Joint Ventures: You Can Double Your Exposure And Profits Using Partners

Utilizing joint ventures in small business is fast becoming a popular method of advertising and in some cases is the only method of advertising some businesses participate in.

What is Joint Venture?

What exactly is a joint venture you may be asking? Joint ventures (JVs) are like partners or affiliates that share the same target market and are typically used in cross promotion.

How To Use Joint Ventures

Following are five examples of how you can use JVs to double your exposure and double your profits:

1. Advertising

There are three of ways to use JVs in advertising. One is to provide your ad for placement into a JV’s newsletter, website, and email blast or to display at a store front. For more details go toThis is particularly beneficial if the joint venture has the same target audience as you do and sell a product or service that is supplemental to yours. You would then opt to display your joint venture ad in your newsletter, website, and email blast or store front in exchange.

Another method of partnering with a JV in advertising is to give them a percentage of sales on traffic they bring your way. For instance, let’s say that you are selling an e-Book. Your JV may take your advertisement of the e-Book (with a link imbedded in it that takes visitors to a special e-Book webpage) and incorporate it into their newsletter, website, or email blast. For every person they bring to you that buys your e-Book, you give them a percentage of book sales. This allows you to double or even triple the amount of exposure, depending on the quality of contacts your JV holds.

The third method of using a JV is to partner together on an ad and split costs. I’ve seen this take place recently with three individual businesses that specialized in three different pet services (grooming, pet sitting, and discounted pet food). Together they purchased ad space on multiple buys to offer a one stop service to potential customers.

2. Article Trading

JV’s are great to use for trading content. For more details go to When creating a newsletter, web content or an e-Book, it is often easier to enlist outside help to give your product some “meat” in exchange for directing traffic to your JV’s website with the use of their article. Of course, this works both ways if your goal is to drive traffic to your website or to build a contact list. You can submit your articles to a JV who in turn will give your article additional exposure by utilizing their contact list.

3. Events

JVs are also great to partner with when hosting an event. Whether that event is a teleseminar, webcast, workshop or seminar, JVs can offer additional exposure by advertising to their contact list, website, email blast or store front in exchange for either advertising a JV event or giving them a percentage of profits for every person they bring to you.

Like advertising, you can also partner with a JV and host an event together, allowing you to split costs and double the exposure of the event.

How To Shop and Save On Website Hosting

by Jim Edwards

“What’s your web address?”

From small “mom and pop” home-based businesses to mega-stores, people ask this question in business every single day. Even if you only operate a small, local business, if you don’t have a website (or at least email) people honestly look at you funny.

A few years ago, website hosting was one of the largest expenses connected with setting up a website. Now, with dramatic drops in pricing, website hosting can actually present the least costly component of operating a website.

However, before you run out and sign up for $2-a-month website hosting and wake up tomorrow filled with regret, take 5 minutes right now and learn the main points to consider when evaluating any website host.

Total Storage

How much space do you get to store your website files? If you operate a small website with a handful of pages and only a couple of pictures per page, you can get by with 5-10 MB (megabytes) of disk space or less. However, if your site contains dozens of pages and hundreds of pictures, you may need a hosting plan with 10-25 MB of space.

Data Transfer / Bandwidth

Here’s where many people fall down and get run over by the Internet bus! Bandwidth represents the total amount of traffic the website host allows you to receive.

Successful sites that get a lot of traffic eat up more bandwidth than sites without many visitors. Honestly, bargain website hosting companies don’t want you to get much traffic because your bandwidth costs them money.

If you plan to do any business online, make sure you get a bare minimum of at least 1 GB (gigabyte) of data transfer per month.

Email “Aliases”

Most web hosts allow you to set up email addresses connected with your domain, such as, and have them forward to your email account, like The ability to set up email aliases forms an integral part of any online business. Make sure your hosting company allows you to set up at least 5 email aliases.

Website Tools

If you want to do anything more than let people look at static web pages, you will need to have certain tools available. The two most important tools are CGI and website statistics. These allow you to run scripts and see who came to your site and when.

Tech Support

Make sure you understand any company’s technical support policies and hours of operation. Don’t wait until Saturday afternoon to discover your only help option is to wait and email them Monday morning.

Go to and check out the tool for researching and comparing the offerings of over 9,000 different website hosting companies. Try the “Power Search” feature, which allows you to specify about 50 different variables, including price, company location, bandwidth, and number of email aliases allowed. It even lets you search by how often the hosting company backs up its servers to protect against data loss.

The PostModern Internet Marketers Newbie Guide

9 The PostModern Internet Marketers Newbie Guide

I’m mad as HECK and I am not going to take it anymore? simple smile The PostModern Internet Marketers Newbie Guide

Seriously – a few years back I was actively involved in the “internet marketing arena.”  I was only working part-time, but I was earning a healthy supplemental income.

Then the invitation came to relocate in a new city and serve a church as pastor.  The responsibilities were bigger – and ministry IS my calling – so I guess you could say I retired.  Hardly spent a moment thinking about internet marketing for the last several years.

Then a few months ago I got interesting in blogging.  I started with a pastor blog, but then (thanks to some automated technologies that makes blogging fun) I decided to branch out.  I only invest a few hours a week – spare time sort of stuff – and I decided to get back into the game, so to speak.

Well, everything has changed.

For one thing, the marketplace is 100 times larger than I remember.  Almost everyone is buying online – books, technology, weight loss information, supplements, car, homes, clothes.  Oh, and we are only scratching the surface.  It’s only going to get bigger and bigger.

That’s the good part of the changing landscape.

But there is also the stuff that is making me mad as heck.  In the last couple months I have invested in several resources by the so-called “gurus” of internet marketing.  What I have got in return is hype, crappy customer support, unworkable business plans, and software that technologically does not work.

Oh, there are some exceptions – but for the most part, these “experts” are con-artists.

Despite my prior experience, the reality is that I am a newbie all over again…

BUT (and this is a pretty big deal) I still have my rolodex.  That’s right…I have “friends” in the biz, people I know can be trusted.

So, I made some connections with some of the old-guard.  These are the guides that never left the game; folks whose integrity has never been questioned; guys who deliver on their promises and offer honest-to-goodness personalized customer support.

Dave Isaacs and Aaron Leighton are at the top of this list.

These guys have been putting together a “newbie” guide for those who want to made a few extra bucs (or more) via the internet.

As soon as it was available, I snatched up resell-rights so I could share it with my friends.

Oh, and I am selling this hot little resource to a price so low that all I expect is that I will make enough to keep my blogs running.  Beyond that, I hope to create some goodwill with my friends and blog visitors.

If you have every thought about starting an online business, this is the guide you need.  This guide cuts through the hype and confusion and tells you really works and what doesn’t.

This comprehensive guide will SAVEyou a LOT of time, money and frustration in the long run.

Oh, I am taking away all the risk, too…with a full sixty day refund guarantee.  Once you read the guide, I doubt you’ll be requesting the refund.  Especially when you see just how much you are getting for an incredibly low price.

Increase Sales By Flying Under

Increase Sales By Flying Under

How do you persuade someone to do what you want them to do?

A whole world of marketing exists around us trying to do that every minute of the day. Do you even notice it anymore or, like your prospects, have you subconsciously set up a system of “radar defenses” against the daily bombardment of marketing messages?

Take a minute and count up the advertising methods which fight for your attention (and money) every day. Just the basic list includes:

· Yellow page ads

· Newspaper and magazine ads

· Postcards, catalogs, and direct mail circulars in your “snail mail” box

· Radio pitches interrupting the flow of your favorite songs

· TV ads – about 20 minutes worth per hour now

· Hundreds of storefronts, “mega” malls, and strip malls

· Highway billboards by the thousands

· Circulars hung on your doorknob

· Illegal signs on stop signs and telephone poles

· Legitimate email messages

· Spam email or UCE (unsolicited commercial email)

Just these 11 sources can overwhelm your brain with marketing messages. Like trapped rats, people develop
defenses against this never-ending onslaught. They throw up a wall or a “radar defense” that goes into action the minute they smell a “pitch” or a sales job. Don’t blame them. We all do it!

So how can you get around this psychological wall against the constant sales and marketing messages? Well, the answer does NOT lie in hitting people with more frequent and obnoxious advertising or sly, sneaky tactics. You might get them to trust you for a minute, but it will backfire in the long run.

You must do two things instead:

1. First, you must establish credibility for yourself and your business as an expert.

2. Second, you must reduce their fears about doing business with you.

Doing these two things will get you past their defenses and allow you the opportunity to persuade them to buy your product.

So how do you accomplish these two “simple” things? What will win someone’s attention, raise your credibility, and lower their fear factor all at the same time? The one-word answer really applies to most everyone.

If a seller can get behind your defenses with information which makes you trust them, then that credibility will carry over into a sale much of the time.

How can you get this credibility?

Well, take this next fact as online marketing “gospel,” for many people have proven its effectiveness.

Fact: Publishing and promoting with free articles gives you one of the most powerful opportunities available to tip the buyer’s credibility scale in your favor.

How can we prove this works? Quite easily actually. Take a break from reading this and go check out a newspaper or magazine for a minute.

Which do you trust more, the ads or the articles? Most people will choose the articles hands down. Why? Because the articles don’t try to “sell” you anything. Instead, they hand out useful information for educational or other practical purposes.

Most of us grew up in a culture which says we can believe and “trust” what appears in the standard “news” or “information” format. In other words, if it appears in print, then we can believe and trust the author.

So go ahead! Use this lifetime of conditioning to your advantage in selling your products and services!

Very few things will create an atmosphere of trust and confidence in people as reading one of your articles on a subject that greatly interests them. It shows you know your business. It also demonstrates you will do more than just try to sell them something.

Publishing articles literally lets you fly under their advertising “radar defenses.”

So remember these points when deciding whether or not to use articles to promote your business:

1. Few things create as much trust and confidence in the minds of potential customers as reading an article you wrote on a subject which specifically and intensely interests them.

2. Articles establish credibility quickly because, right or wrong, we’ve all been trained to trust the “news.”

3. An article, or series of articles, will differentiate you from the competition, who bombard people with nothing but sales messages.

4. Providing content-rich, non-sales-oriented articles will also help build and solidify your relationship with existing customers so they give you repeat business.

The Only Visitor That Counts Is A Repeat Visitor

“Get 5000 Visitors In The Next 30 Days–>Guaranteed!”

You’ve seen headlines like this one. Perhaps you’ve even purchase the HIT GENERATION service in the hope that it might sky-rocket your online business success.

These days–>with the sophisticated tracking software used by many hit generation businesses, it is possible for people to actually deliver on their promise and produce traffic at you site. In fact, they can even produce TARGETTED traffic–>people interested in the kind of offers you make on your site.

Seriously, does that increased traffic really make a difference. Sadly, for most sites, the answer it NO!

Why not? Well, let’s begin by stating that the problem is not with the hit generation company. They are doing exactly what they promise to do–>bring traffic to your site.

The problem is you, or rather with your site. It is not doing what it is suppose to do! There are two potential problems. Your site may not be keeping the visitors long enough for them to place an order. Or your site is not offering your visitors a reason to BOOKMARK and return to your site.

This article is written with the following assumption: The Only Visitor That Counts Is A Repeat Visitor!

An old advertising proverb declares: “Six times and they’re sold!” Here’s the theory: “To make a sale you need to get your marketing presentation in front of a prospect at least six times.”

So here’s the question: How can you create a site that will motivate people to keep coming back and become a REPEAT VISITOR?

That is more simple than it sounds! Here’s the answer in a nutshell: Offer people a reason to come back and they will!

So what do people want? Here is a brief list of things that PEOPLE WANT in life. If your site includes fresh and interactive content that addresses these WANTS, then they will keep coming back to your site.

And the best way to offer fresh, interactive, and engaging information is via email newsletters (ezines) and blog sites.

What are people looking to discover

People want to know how to make money and market effectively (

People want to find high values products andn services they can sell (

People want to lose weight, look better, and feel better. (

People want to have a happier home life, better friends, the ability to help others, more knowledge, and a successful life. (

People want to know that life is not a vain exercise in futility.  They want to know there is a God, that God is a personal being, and that God cares. (

You get the point, don’t you?

So–how do you begin to address these WANTS on your site in order to attract REPEAT VISITORS. Here are a few ideas:

The POSTMODERN spin on that adage is that the internet provides you the means to get your message in front of people those six times in ways far less expensive and more engaging that the “old world” print and mail tools.

Did you notice the URLS with each of the topics above?  These are each blogs that I edit to help share information on a regular basis with the public.  These blogs are interactive and informative.

creating a presence on Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In, Google, and other interactive social media sites can create the kind of interaction and trust that will keep people visiting your site often..

A discussion board can be a tremendous draw for repeat visitors. They can provide your visitors with an opportunity to make comments, offer advice, and/or ask questions. The benefits are numerous. A sense of community will develop around your site. Friendships will form. People will learn from one another. They will discover ways to help others.

All this will add up to ongoing repeat visitors–>which will greatly increase your business success.

People want to get more money and more stuff. Greed may or may not be good, depending on how you define it. One thing you can’t deny is that it is a real motivation.

So find a way to feed that motivation in a postive manner. Host a contest on your site. There are several different businesses that you can join that will permit you to host THEIR sweepstakes contest. People will keep coming back to your site for a chance to win–>and their return visits make it more likely that you will win their business.

This is foundational to everything else listed above.  It’s been said and hinted at – but it must be said again.  Make the content on your site valuable.

A recent survey from a major search engine asked how people used the Internet. The overwhelming response was that people used it for research–to get more information about a topic of interest.

Now asked yourselves two questions!

–>What is the niche of your web site?
–>How can you educate people about that subject?

Consider the article you are reading now.  Isn’t this more useful than hundreds of banners, buttons, and flashing links?

This is the kind of information that aims to help folks experience more business building success.  What is your niche…and is your site is scratching it?

Please remember that the key to you success is not to get them to come to you site–but to come back. If they don’t come back you won’t make the sale!

Joint Ventures The Easy Way To Increase Your Profits

In this article I’m going to show you many different ways that you can find joint venture partners, as well as some very specific strategies you can use to get your niche markets top marketers to promote your products and web site.

A joint venture is where you contact a marketer in your niche market that has an email list of subscribers who may have an interest in your product. They can be the lifeblood of your business. Just five decent joint venture partners who promote your ebook to their email list in exchange for a commission can put your current income through into overdrive. Read this newsletter and go out and take action. I assure you your results will be life changing.

Know Your Conversion Rate

The first mistake newbie’s make is they start contacting JV partners left right and centre before they’ve even made a sale of their ebook themselves. This is wrong. Very wrong. You need to be able to contact a potential JV partner and be able to tell them how your sites converting. How can you expect someone to sign up as a JV partner if they can not see your past success.

Site conversion is simple. It’s the amount of visitors to the amount of visitors who buy. So for example if one hundred people visited your site and two bought your conversion is two percent. You want to get at least one thousand visitors before you know your conversion.

To work out how your sites converting download the software from The best thing is it won’t cost you a penny. It will up date visits to you site and calculate your conversion for you.

Offer Large Commissions

Once you know how well your sites converting (if no one’s buying don’t even bother contacting marketers. Improve your sales letter, change your headline, whatever it takes) you can start contacting JV partners. Offer them more than your regular affiliates. Offer your affiliates fifty percent and your JV partners seventy five percent.

You may be thinking “wait a sec those commissions are huge? I won’t make any money myself”. This is where so many go wrong. If people are sending you tons of visitors you can build your email list and offer them other products in email promotions, and you can also make money selling back end products. Remember that old saying “speculate to accumulate”.

Return the Favour

Offering high commissions is not enough. Let them know that you’ll add a message into your auto responder set up so that you’ll market their products via an affiliate link in your back end. Explain that you’ll be setting up joint ventures with other marketers in the niche so that they’ll get visitors to their site without spending a dime. This is very powerful.

Using Clickbank

Please, please understand one thing. If you’re selling an ebook on fitness don’t start contacting marketers who sell gardening products. That’s just ridiculous. You need marketers who sell products in your niche as they will have an email list of people who may have an interest in your book and these are the only marketers you should contact.

With that in mind start at Click on “promote products” on the home page and then search the marketplace for products in your niche. Try setting up a JV by contacting the product owners.

Google “Ezine” Trick

This is a superb way to find marketers with ready made email lists they can send a promotion to and sell tons of copies of your ebook virtually overnight.

Go to google and type in “(niche) ezine”. So for example if you were selling a bass fishing related ebook you’d type in “bass fishing ezine”. What you’ll get is a huge list of results of web sites in which people have a bass fishing email newsletter (or ezine). Obviously they won’t all have one, often you’ll get millions of results, but you can spend a few hours going through the results and get more JV contacts than you could ever hope for!

Google “Allintitle” Trick

Here’s another cracker. If you could find web sites that have your niche market keyword in their domain name there might be great potential JV partners? Of course! Go to google and type in “allintitle: (niche)” So for example if you were selling an ebook on song writing you’d type “allintitle: song writing” into google. Go through the results contacting marketers and setting up hugely profitable joint ventures.

Leverage Results

Once you set up one profitable JV use the results to start setting up even more joint ventures. One joint venture will boost your conversion and your future contacts will be far more impressive. You can say things like “Joe bloggs from domain made X amount of sales and earned X amount from just one mailing to his list”. This really is powerful because it shows people that you know what you’re doing.

Now go and take action. You really can set up joint ventures with any niche markets top guns if you go and actually do it. Do it today! Good luck!

Article Marketing – A Newbies Guide To Article Marketing

Article marketing is one of the absolute basics of internet marketing. Having articles all over the internet is a marketing method which enables you to invest some time and effort right now and reap the benefits for years to come. This article will explore some of the advantages of article marketing and its subtleties in order to help internet marketers to use it to their best advantage.

Anyone who’s been doing internet marketing for a while knows that writing articles is imperative to the success of one’s online campaigns. Having articles in various article directories is a great way of providing links back to your site, thus building your site’s popularity. When a page has many links back to it it helps to attain good positioning in the search engines. An article directory which has a high page rank is the best place to submit articles to as this helps to boost your page’s rank.

57 Article Marketing A Newbies Guide To Article Marketing

Bear in mind that people take articles they enjoy and publish them in their ezines and on their websites, further providing you, the author, with more back links and publicity.

When you have articles of your own posted in article directories you can slowly establish your name as an expert in your niche. People will be more apt to trust your recommendations.

Although it may be tempting to write a bunch of articles in one day and submit them to a few directories, exercise caution with this. Why is that? Because Google is quite sensitive about a sudden surge in traffic to a link. Although we would all love a sudden surge in traffic, it may cause Google to de-index your site in order to look in to the reason for the sudden popularity of your site. It’s better to submit articles every couple of days.

In the process of article marketing, don’t submit an article that is already on your own website. It may be considered duplicate content and you don’t want that! Google would consider the site which is higher ranking to be the originator of the article (the article directory) and your site’s page rank may suffer.

Don’t submit PLR articles without making changes!! There is so much PLR available today (free and otherwise) and it is very tempting to just grab it and use it. Don’t do it. The purpose of these articles is to provide you with a basis for an article. Read it and rewrite it in your own words. Duplicate articles could be rejected by the article directories and the directories may just decide to ban your account.

Try to use good keywords in your article’s title and also in the beginning of the first paragraph. Sprinkle your chosen keyword all over the article as well.

Most article directories allow you to use hyperlinks. For sophisticated and efficient article marketing try to use anchor text that relates to the keywords you are targeting. This will help you attain a better position in the SERP’s (search engine result pages). If you are targeting the word “gardening tips” make sure to hyperlink to your website from each mention of the term in your article. This will help your gardening site be higher in the search results for the term “gardening tips”.

Try to remember that people will be reading your article. Make it readable for them and don’t just concentrate on the density of your keywords. If people don’t enjoy reading the article, they won’t bother reaching the end of it, which is where you will lead them to your site from the ever-important resource box!

In summary, article marketing is a very important, even critical, element of internet marketing. Every internet marketer should be making the effort to become proficient in article marketing and learning how to write decent quality articles in as little time as possible. It will bring in terrific long term results.

Happy writing!

A 1-2-3 Guide to Joint Venture Marketing Success

Fact: Two Horses Can Pull About 9,000 Pounds
Question: How many pounds can FOUR horses pull?

If you are like me, your initial response was to say that four horses can pull 18,000 pounds. Sounds reasonable–but its wrong!

Four horses can actually pull over 30,000 pounds. What the difference? It’s something called synergy. Synergy is theenergy or force created by the working together of various parts or processes.

Synergy. That’s the power behind what is commonly called Joint Venture Marketing. In a “Joint Venture” or “Endorsed Offer,” two parties leverage their assets (client lists, finances, technological expertise etc.) for the mutual benefit of both.

Joint Ventures are commonplace on the Internet. If you have ever exchanged links with another web site or perhaps traded ads with an ezine publisher, then you have engaged in a rudimentary Joint Venture. Unfortunately many marketers stop at this point–failing to enjoy the profit potential of this incredible marketing strategy.

You want to be different, right? Well, I am going to give a simple 1-2-3 formula that will allow you to profit using Joint Venture Marketing.

STEP ONE: You Need a GREAT Product!

This is the key to real success in any business, isn’t it? Unfortunately so much of what passes as “useful products” on the Internet is just plain garbage.  Too many people promises the moon but delivers nothing but cheese.

Listen, if you give your clients something of value up front then they will become happy customers for life. They will come back and buy over and over again.

Now if you don’t have the time or inclination to create your own product, you can seek out the products of others.  Many internet businesses offer entreprenuers the tools and resources they need to work as an AFFILIATE of the master site.  Look for good product(s),  high commissions, and good customer service.  For a minimal years expenses (no more that $10,00) you can get a domain name to redirect to your affiliate link, for a more professional look and feel.  One of my favorite type of products to offer are those which offer web hosting, resell products, and dozens of other tools and resources to create and effective marketing presence in this Post-Modern era.  If you need such tools – and/or are looking for a good company to represent – check out

NOTE that recent legislation demands that those who represent other businesses offer a disclosure of share profits.  I include on my sites and emails an appropriate disclosure statement.  Check out recent laws about these matters.  It’s not too complicated – and it is important.

Got your product? Great! Now let’s move on to…

STEP TWO: You Need a Joint Venture Partner(s)

Here’s one of the best methods around for finding Joint Venture partners. Visit and download “Alexa.” This will soon become your secret weapon for finding the information you need to make a significant Internet income. Play around with Alexa and you will soon learn how to use its many important features for developing a powerful and PERSONALIZED Joint Venture proposal letters.

Assuming you’ve got “Alexa” loaded and running, use your favorite search engine and check for key words.

If you are using a product like that at, check out terms like:

* Internet Marketing
* Marketing
* Business Success
* Advertising
* Online Sales
* Making Money
* Entrepreneur
* Email Marketing
* And any other key words that will find you business owners, e-zine publishers, etc.

If you’ve done your searches you are ready for the next step.  It’s now time for…

STEP THREE: Offer a Proposition That Will Make Joint Ventures Happen Like Mad!

You’ve visited your prospective partners site. You’ve used “Alexa” to do some strategic research. Now take what you’ve learned and create a personalize Joint Venture proposal. Make sure that you make specific references to their site’s content to get their attention and assure them they AREN’T getting Spammed!

Here’s a letter I use to introduce people to

((If ALEXA doesn’t find their name put in Sir:/ Maam))

I represent one of the best Internet Site for Business Development and the creation of a online professional presence in today’s world.  I visited your site on the net and since you seem to be doing well (at least I get that impression from your site)

Ezine Basics – Your Entrance to the Rewarding World of Online Publications

Ezine Basics: – Your Entrance to the Rewarding World of Online Publications” By: Dr. Bill Nieporte
Email is, without question, the most popular and powerful marketing tool available to entrepreneurs today. Websites are great, but without an effective email, your marketing efforts will be anemic. So how do you take advantage of email marketing? The best method is to begin your own opt-in periodic ezine–or an electronic magazine. There are over ten thousand ezines on the internet addressing hundreds of subjects. What is the real power behind ezine marketing? It is RELATIONSHIPS. Those who have learned the art of editing an ezine are developing relationships with readers that will (in many cases) be transformed into customers and business partnerships. There are several skills that must be learned to become a effective ezineeditor. Here they are:

This strategy is also important for newsletter editing and promotion. Think about it. The next time you pass the magazine rack in your local grocery store look at each publication. Each has a theme that is specifically focused toward a particular segment of society. Your ezine should also be focused in that manner. What should your focus be? That depends on you! What are your interests? What are your areas of expertise? With what segment of the internet community do you hold a particular affinity? I’ve seen ezines that address e-commerce, web site development, comic book collecting, cat lovers (ugh),etc.

What’s your niche? If you don’t find it you’ll only develop a nice safe-list–you won’t be the editor of an ezine! Do you know the difference between the two? It’s relationships. An ezine helps you develop meaningful personal and professional relationships.

Got your focus. Great! Now you need to…

Many editors overlook this aspects of their ezine development. Without a effective format, however, your ezine appears disorganized and frustrating to read.

Here are some things to consider as you develop your format.

1) When you open the ezine email, does the first page grab the readers attention and make them want to keep reading? Items such as a “quote of the week,” a personal greeting, or a attractive table of contents will help keep subscribers reading.

2) Is you format geared toward advertisements or content? You’ve read those ezines that look like the the classified ad section of your local newspaper, haven’t you? Neither have I! They are annoying! Focus on content, not ads. Both your advertisers and subscribers will appreicate it. Your subscribers will appreciate your focus on content. Your advertisers will appreciate the fact that their ad will probably be read.

3) Don’t forget to provide clear and easy to follow subscription and unsubscription instructions.

Now that you’ve got your focus and format, what’s next? Oh yes, you need to…

How do you get subscribers? You ask them to subscribe!

Sure, that’s common sense. But how many times have you found yourself subscribed to a list you’ve never heard about? I have made it a policy to NEVER manually add names to my list. To get on my list people must subscribe.  For example, I have forms for two lists that must be completed, and then conmfirmed before I will send you information via email.  You can find my forms at and  In addition, all of my blog sites have a pop-up form where you can subsribe, including the home of this article at

How do you get folks to do that? Here are five powerful methods for building your subscription base…

1) Write articles and submit them to other ezines. In the author’s tag include instructions for subscribing to your ezine.

2) Exchange ads with other ezine editors. Ezine editors tend to be some of the nicest people on the internet 😉 Most will go out of their way to help a comrade succeed.

3) Give away FREE stuff to those who subscribe. Special articles, software programs, discounts, and ebooks are all popular gifts to give your subscribers.

4) Join in strategic partnerships with companies that market services specifically geared toward increasing my ezine subscription base.

Now you’ve got a focus, a format, and subscribers. What’s next? You need…

While your list is small you can probably get by using your current email program. But you always run the risk of raising the ire of your ISP. That’s why I have chosen to use the services of a listserver. Several companies on the internet offer such services for free–but most are unreliable.

The benefit of a listserver. You compose your email, paste it to a online form, hit “send,” and your done. The listserver does all the mailing for you.

What do you want your listserver to do? Here are the basics!

It must send to at least 10,000 people. It must allow unlimited mailings. It must have automatic subscribe and remove functions. It must refuse multiple subscriptions of the same email address. It must reject non valid email addresses in your list. It must generate subscription URL code for your webpage. It must be VERY SECURE–only accessed with appropriate passwords. It must operate from a safe administration area–not via email.

That’s right, use your List Server as often as you like, every hour, every day, once a week, as often as you like! Several companies offer such services.  My listserver (autoreponder) is included in a package with my hosting company.  They also provide me with dozens of other services, including advertisement tracking, articles I can publish, resell rights for several products, page templates, and joint venture opportunities (and much, much more) – all for one low monthly fee.  You can check them out at

Having your own ezine is one of the most powerful and popular ways to build relationship online that will serve your business ventures. I encourage you to get started today.  From there, you can drive traffic to your blogs, affiliate links, and other links – like I do with my pastor’s opinion site at  Check it out and learn more about me, Dr. Bill Nieporte.  Welcome, by the way, to the rewarding world of online publications.
